Coinbase and Moov Bring Stablecoin Payments to More Than 1,000 Community Banks
Coinbase said it and payments platform Moov announced on September 10, 2026, a partnership to provide stablecoin payment acceptance, settlement and real-time funding capabilities to more than 1,000 community banks and credit unions; the arrangement is designed to make those capabilities available through institutions’ existing systems rather than requiring each institution to build separate crypto infrastructure.
Moov embeds Coinbase custody and payment APIs
Moov is integrating Coinbase’s stablecoin infrastructure into its existing payments platform, including CDP Custodial Wallet accounts and Coinbase’s Payments API. The companies said the integration will let financial institutions add crypto rails without building a standalone technology stack.
The partnership is designed to support consumer stablecoin payments, merchant acceptance and settlement, payouts, and real-time funding through existing financial-institution systems, according to Coinbase.
The arrangement places Moov between Coinbase’s underlying tools and the community institutions using its platform. CoinDesk separately reported that it gives more than 1,000 U.S. community banks and credit unions access to stablecoin payment services without independently building the underlying crypto infrastructure.
Neither announcement sets out a rollout timetable or identifies individual participating institutions.

Stablecoin functions through existing bank systems
The partnership is designed to support consumer stablecoin payments, merchant acceptance and merchant settlement. It also covers payouts and real-time funding through existing financial-institution systems, according to Coinbase.
Those functions describe payment and liquidity workflows rather than a general crypto offering. For merchants, the stated scope includes both accepting stablecoin payments and settling them; for consumers and institutions, it includes payment, payout and funding capabilities.
Coinbase and Moov framed the integration around embedding those rails in the systems community banks and credit unions already use, with custody and payment APIs supplied as part of Moov’s platform integration.
